Week 7 – Mono

February 12th, 2012

A weekend in Greenwich (we were there to see Snow Patrol at the O2 -brilliant!) coupled with somewhat gloomy weather provided me with the perfect opportunity for getting this week’s shot as I find gloomy conditions best suited for monotone photography.

I have a large print of this photo of Brooklyn Promenade by Louis Stettner in my study at home and have always admired the way he captured the New York skyline. While the London skyline is not quite as impressively tall as New York’s I did have Mr Stettner’s photo in mind when I shot this. Unfortunately the gloominess meant that getting some decent detail in the towers was out of the question but I’m pleased with how it looks and hopefully I can return to Greenwich on a clearer (and warmer) day and try again.

Week 6 – Wall Art

February 9th, 2012

I found this chap up an alleyway in Canterbury, to me it looked as though he should be playing a flute and someone has stolen it!

Week 5 – Technology

February 1st, 2012

A simple idea this one, my shiny new Kindle came in handy here to show off how technology has affected how we read books. The hardest part really for this shot was piling all the books up on the table without toppling them over (and before you ask, the Jilly Cooper one belongs to Mrs G!). Lit fairly simply with a softbox to the left and a reflector on the right.
